About

It all started when I attempted to bake a cake out of sheer boredom on a quiet Winter's afternoon. For someone who had steered clear of the kitchen for most of her life, I can't explain the excitement at seeing the cake batter rise in its tin and might I say, bake to perfection. Truth be told, I think I stood by the oven the whole time the tin was in the oven, peeking in and marvelling at the craft that was baking.  Suddenly baking seemed to appeal in a way that I had never imagined. The precision of measurements and technique required to achieve the end result called out to the fastidious perfectionist in me in a way that cooking never had till then.

My name is Sarvani and this blog is a personal diary of all my baking trials. I blog from India and the recipes are ones that I have adapted from various recipe books, blogs or sometimes a handwritten special scribbled on a yellowing piece of paper discovered while flipping through old books and diaries or even my mother's recipe boxes!! The photographs are taken with a simple camera in and around my home and if you have a look around, you'll notice my photography has a long way to go!
